Little history of the trunk

One of the oldest known trunks dates back to the golden age of the Egyptian pharaohs. Many chests have indeed been found in Tutankhamun's tomb. Even the Greeks and Romans used them on all important journeys. At the time, the trunk was a chest made of wood and bronze, sometimes decorated with ornaments in ivory and precious metals. The lid was flat to allow the trunks to be stacked in the means of transport used. When America was discovered in 1492, trunks filled with all the new fruits and produce of the New World sailed across the ocean to reach the Old World. The industrial revolution swept through the 19th century with the beginning of a new concept of travel trunks. Little by little, the chest was installed in the interiors, becoming the perfect container for childhood memories or the very practical coffee table!
