This dark wood display cabinet appeals with its contemporary sobriety and the depth of its shade, which highlights the objects on display. Sourced secondhand, it features a door, a drawer, and three shelves, while its brass handles add a refined touch to the piece. Its interior storage space allows you to carefully organize tableware, glasses, or books, and its drawer complements everyday use by keeping small accessories close at hand. A brief history of the display cabinet
Born in the 18th century, the display cabinet transformed the closed sideboard into a stage for precious objects, protecting them from dust while keeping them visible. It originally served as a "showcase" for goldsmiths, using glass—then a luxury material—to signal the wealth of the household even before revealing its contents. Its light structure, punctuated by transparent walls and often adjustable shelves, allows you to showcase collections without visually cluttering the space. Today, it remains the ideal piece of furniture for bringing clarity to a room while transforming your memories and curiosities into a personal and refined exhibition.
