A Brief History of the Bar Stool
Directly stemming from 1920s counter furniture, the bar stool is the taller evolution of the classic stool, designed to allow sitting at standing height. It is distinguished by slender legs and the essential presence of a footrest, a technical innovation intended to relieve the legs. Long confined to bistros and cabarets, it found its way into our homes with the advent of American-style kitchens, becoming a symbol of vertical and relaxed conviviality.
