With its simple lines and light wood, this natural wood shelf brings a soft, country feel that is easy to integrate into the home. Its slender format allows for organizing books, baskets, tableware, or everyday items without weighing down the space, while its compartments provide clear structure for storage. It can also accommodate a curtain to create a more discreet piece of furniture for a bedroom, kitchen, or living room. The bottom shelf, removable and split in two, offers great flexibility depending on what you wish to place on it. At the bottom, a few jars, notebooks, and a table lamp will give it a very natural look. A second-hand piece, it bears the marks of its history: the rod and fasteners are slightly rusted.

A brief history of the shelf
Long before becoming the sleek piece of furniture we know today, the shelf was merely a simple plank of raw wood fixed in kitchens or workshops to keep tools within reach. It gained prominence in the 18th century under the name "gradin," making its way into salons to display precious bindings or fine porcelain. Its structure, devoid of doors or side walls, makes it the lightest piece of furniture in the home, a feat of minimalism that frees up floor space while dressing the walls. Today, it no longer serves only to store, but to stage our daily lives, transforming a utilitarian surface into a true living tableau that breathes and allows light to circulate.
