With its distressed white finish and slender lines, this wooden tallboy adds a gentle, country-style touch to the home. Its four drawers offer practical vertical storage for linens, accessories, or small everyday essentials, while its narrow format allows it to easily fit into a bedroom, hallway, or living room. With a vintage feel, it combines charm and simplicity with a silhouette that is easy to pair with linen, rattan, or light-colored walls. Its top can hold a lamp, a vase, or a few books, creating a calm and polished atmosphere. Placed near a bed with a stack of folded sheets and a ceramic lamp, it creates a very soft look.

A brief history of the chest of drawers
Its name (commode) says it all: it was born to be "convenient," replacing the deep chests where everything was piled up in a jumble. Appearing during the reign of Louis XIV, it was such a prestigious display piece that it often took pride of place in reception rooms rather than dressing rooms. It introduced the sliding drawer, a revolution that finally allowed one to access their belongings without emptying everything out. Whether called a "sauteuse commode" (on tall legs) or a "tombeau commode," it is defined by its generous top and a front punctuated by two or three rows of drawers.
