A short history of the Bertoia chair:
In 1952, Italian sculptor Harry Bertoia transformed metal rods into functional sculptures. Known for his talent in metalworking, sculpture and jewelry design, he now designs a collection of iconic seating, published by Knoll International. The Bertoia chair, with its light and airy design, combines elegance and solidity. Originally, its manufacture was entirely artisanal: each metal wire was bent and welded by hand, giving birth to a sculptural piece. Its wire mesh aesthetic embodies an “industrial chic” style that fits perfectly in any space, whether it is a dining room, kitchen or bedroom.
