With their Art Deco lines and light-toned wood, these cane and wood chairs bring an elegant and airy touch to the home. This vintage pair charms with its openwork backrest, the delicacy of its caning, and a silhouette that is easy to integrate into both a country-style interior and a more contemporary living room. Their modest size and standard seat height make them comfortable pieces for a dining table, in a kitchen, or near a desk. The light wood warms the overall look, while the caning allows light to pass through, lightening the feel of the room. Placed as a duo near a raw wood table, they create a dining area filled with softness.

A brief history of the chair
In the Middle Ages, sitting on a chair with a backrest was a rare privilege reserved for the person leading the assembly: the "president" (from the Latin *praesidere*, to sit in front). Long a symbol of prestige compared to the benches and stools of the common people, the chair did not become democratized until the 18th century, eventually becoming an everyday object. It is distinguished from the armchair by the absence of armrests, a structure designed to offer total freedom of movement around a table or desk. The result of a constant quest for balance between lightness and solidity, it has evolved from carved solid wood to more modern lines, making each seat a witness to the history of comfort.
