A Brief History of the Sewing Box
Born in the 18th century as the "work table," the sewing box was the creation of mechanical cabinetmakers who competed in ingenuity to create furniture with secret compartments. Unlike a simple box, it is defined by its light legs and unfolding compartments designed to hold threads and needles. Also known as a "sewing box on legs," it is now wonderfully repurposed as a bedside table or a charming jewelry box.
