With its grey metal frame, this second-hand seven-drawer chest brings a touch of country charm with an industrial edge, while maintaining an understated, distinctive look. Its slim profile fits neatly in an entryway, an office or against a wall, and can be secured for added stability. The shallow drawers are ideal for storing mail, notebooks, office supplies or everyday odds and ends, while the storage space keeps essentials close at hand. The metal gives it a subtle presence that pairs easily with weathered wood, a brass lamp or rustic ceramics. In an entryway, it can hold keys and a catchall tray, with a bouquet of dried flowers on top.

A brief history of the seven-drawer chest
Seven drawers for seven days: that is the promise of the semainier, which originated in the 18th century as a way to establish a daily organizing ritual. Unlike a traditional chest of drawers, it rises tall to provide dedicated storage for each morning of the week, from Monday to Sunday. Whether adorned with the exquisite marquetry of the Louis XV style or the clean lines of 1950s design, it suits both classic and vintage interiors. Often confused with the chiffonnier, which has fewer drawers, it remains the ideal piece for making the most of small spaces with historic elegance.
