A brief history of the guéridon
Appearing in the 17th century, the guéridon gets its name from a ballet character, "Guéridon," who held a torch. Initially designed as a support for lighting (candleholders, lamps), this small occasional furniture piece is distinguished by its circular top resting on a single central base. Whether Empire style in solid mahogany or Seventies in rattan, it adapts to all interiors as an end table or display table. Today, it remains the centerpiece for structuring a reading nook with elegance and lightness.
