This light wood dining table appeals with its understated design and warm presence, in a country style. Sourced second-hand, it bears the hallmark of Reconstruction-era furniture and was restored in our workshop, with a treatment, sanding, and then a natural wax finish to preserve the appearance of the wood. Its rectangular top and angled base give it a balanced look, ideal in a convivial dining room or a kitchen with understated character. It offers a beautiful surface for everyday use, while leaving a comfortable space under the top to place seating. Set with stoneware plates, a few glasses and a bouquet of wildflowers, it creates a soft and authentic scene.

A little history of the farmhouse table
The centerpiece of rural life in the 19th century, the farmhouse table was crafted to last for generations and accommodate large peasant gatherings. It is recognizable by its thick solid wood top, often marked by the passage of time, and its sturdy base connected or not by a "foot bar" or stretcher. Called a "refectory table" or "kitchen table", it was designed to withstand daily work as well as family banquets.
