A brief history of the bar stool
Directly stemming from 1920s counter furniture, the bar stool is the taller evolution of the classic stool, designed to allow sitting at standing height. It is distinguished by slender legs and the indispensable presence of a footrest, a technical innovation intended to relieve legs. Long confined to bistros and cabarets, it made its way into our homes with the advent of American kitchens, becoming the symbol of vertical and casual conviviality.
