A brief history of the bar stool
Directly stemming from 1920s counter furniture, the bar stool is the taller evolution of the classic stool, designed to allow sitting at the height of a standing person. It is distinguished by slender legs and the indispensable presence of a footrest, a technical innovation designed to relieve the legs. Long confined to bistros and cabarets, it has made its way into our homes with the advent of open-plan kitchens, becoming a symbol of vertical and relaxed conviviality.
