This Scandinavian teak and black metal chest of drawers captivates with its sharp contrast and contemporary lines, ideal for a bedroom or living room. Its four drawers offer ample storage for clothes, papers, or everyday accessories, while the black metal handles and legs add a graphic, structured touch. The dark teak wood gives it a warm presence that pairs easily with natural materials, a textured rug, or light-colored walls. A second-hand find, it combines understated style and functionality without weighing down the space.

A brief history of the chest of drawers
Its name says it all: it was born to be "convenient," replacing deep chests where everything was piled haphazardly. Appearing during the reign of Louis XIV, it was such a prestigious showpiece that it often sat in reception rooms rather than dressing rooms. It introduced the sliding drawer, a revolution that finally allowed access to one's belongings without emptying everything. Whether called a "jumping chest" (on tall legs) or a "tomb chest," it is defined by its generous top and a front punctuated by two or three rows of drawers.
