With its simple lines and light-toned wood, this light wood chest of drawers embodies a contemporary aesthetic that is easy to integrate. Its three drawers offer practical storage for linens, accessories, or daily paperwork, while its golden handles add a delicate touch to the piece. Its modest size allows it to fit into a bedroom, living room, or even an entryway as a side piece that is as elegant as it is functional. The wood, bright and warm, blends easily with natural materials, off-white tones, or accents of metal. In a bedroom, it would readily hold a lamp, a few books, and a ceramic catch-all tray. As a second-hand piece, it bears the traces of its history: scratches and marks on the wood.

A brief history of the chest of drawers
Its name says it all: it was born to be "convenient," replacing deep chests where everything was piled up in disarray. Emerging during the reign of Louis XIV, it was such a prestigious display piece that it often took pride of place in reception bedrooms rather than in wardrobes. It introduced the sliding drawer, a revolution that finally allowed access to one's belongings without emptying everything out. Whether called a "sauteuse" chest (on high legs) or a "tombeau" chest, it is defined by its generous top and its front, punctuated by two or three rows of drawers.
