Léonie, the rattan coffee table N°1158

This small vintage rattan coffee table, in a light wood tone, instantly brings a rustic softness to a living room. Its compact size allows it to slip in next to a sofa, between two armchairs, or in a reading nook without cluttering the space. Rattan offers a light and warm material, easy to pair with linen, textured cushions, or a natural fiber rug. Sourced as a vintage find, this 1960s coffee table also finds its place in a sunroom or under a window to hold books and everyday objects. Over coffee, it lends itself perfectly to a stack of magazines, a candle, and a bouquet of dried flowers. Top slightly sagging.

A brief history of the coffee table
Unlike dining tables, the coffee table did not truly appear until the early 20th century with the evolution of living rooms toward greater comfort and relaxation. Its structure, intentionally low to align with the seat of armchairs, is inspired by Oriental tea tables and 19th-century coffee stands. Called a "living room table" or "cocktail table," it is defined by its generous top supported by a short, sturdy base.
