These light wood coffee tables play on two heights and two shapes to create a soft and refined living room set. The marquetry top, made of oak, features a checkerboard and mosaic parquet design that highlights the craftsmanship with great finesse. The round table can be placed in the center of a sofa, while the hexagonal table accompanies an armchair or tucks in next to a rug, depending on the need at the moment. Their matte clear finish, achieved after sanding, stripping, treating, and varnishing, highlights the country spirit of this found pair. As second-hand pieces, they retain the memory of their past: the smallest table remains slightly darker because it was more damaged originally.

A little history of the coffee table
Unlike dining tables, the coffee table only truly appeared at the beginning of the 20th century with the evolution of living rooms towards more comfort and relaxation. Its structure, deliberately low to align with the seat of armchairs, is inspired by oriental tea tables and 19th-century coffee stands. Called a "living room table" or "cocktail table", it is defined by its generous top supported by a short and robust base.
