Julien, the Scandinavian-style plexiglass floor lamp No. 404

With its Scandinavian spirit, this vintage floor lamp blends transparent plexiglass, plastic, wood, and gold-toned brass in a sober, graphic design. Its slender silhouette and compact size allow it to easily find its place in a living room, next to a sofa, or in a reading corner. The wood and brass base adds a touch of refinement, while the plexiglass diffuser softens the overall look with a discreet presence. It fits naturally into a contemporary interior, complementing both light-colored materials and wooden furniture to create subtle accent lighting. Placed next to a fabric armchair and a coffee table, it forms a refined and balanced arrangement.

A brief history of the floor lamp
Heir to the 17th-century "torch-bearing stands," the floor lamp revolutionized lighting by moving light away from the walls and making it portable. Its height was historically calibrated to cast a glow exactly over a reader's shoulder, thus preventing shadows long before the invention of electricity. At the end of the 18th century, the emergence of oil lamps with airflow systems allowed it to shine independently and steadily, making it the central pivot of reading rooms.
