Julien, the chrome and marble floor lamp No. 416

This second-hand chrome floor lamp brings a contemporary and elegant touch to a living room or reading corner. Its silver-tone structure, paired with a white marble base, creates a sleek and refined ensemble, while its multiple bulbs provide generous illumination. The combination of chrome and marble gives it a measured presence, easy to pair with a fabric sofa, a wooden side table, or an armchair with personality. Placed near a bookcase or in a bedroom, it enhances the room with a very modern look. As a second-hand piece, it carries the memory of its past: a few signs of wear over time.

Height: 176 cm

A brief history of the floor lamp
Heir to the 17th-century "torch-bearing pedestals," the floor lamp revolutionized lighting by moving light away from the walls and making it mobile. Historically, its height was calibrated to project light exactly over a reader's shoulder, avoiding cast shadows long before the invention of electricity. At the end of the 18th century, the appearance of air-draft oil lamps allowed it to shine autonomously and steadily, making it the central pivot of reading rooms.
