Julien, the chrome floor lamp No. 415

This chrome floor lamp adds a contemporary and curated touch to both the living room and a reading corner. Its slender presence takes up little floor space and directs light with elegance, while highlighting the finesse of its metallic structure. As a second-hand piece, it pairs naturally with a fabric armchair, a wooden side table, or a sofa with simple lines. Its chrome finish dialogues easily with matte materials and neutral tones for a polished, modern ambiance. Being a second-hand piece, it bears the marks of its history: some traces of time.

A brief history of the floor lamp
An heir to the 17th-century "guéridon porte-flambeaux" (torch-bearing stands), the floor lamp revolutionized lighting by taking light off the walls and making it mobile. Its height was historically calibrated to cast a glow exactly over a reader's shoulder, avoiding cast shadows long before the invention of electricity. At the end of the 18th century, the appearance of air-current oil lamps allowed it to shine autonomously and steadily, making it the central pivot of reading rooms.
