This pair of modernist armchairs captivates with its combination of light wood and black metal, offering a contemporary take that is both sober and graphic. Each armchair offers a beautifully proportioned seat, with a comfortable seat height and a backrest that naturally follows the body, making them easy to use in a living room or office. The structure blending wood and metal gives it a measured presence, while the clean lines pair easily with a wooden coffee table or a desk with a bold design. Placed near a bookcase, they readily welcome an open book, a light throw, or a table lamp. A vintage find, this second-hand armchair bears the marks of its history. Sold as a pair, 1 set available.

A brief history of the armchair
While the chair is designed for work or dining, the armchair emerged in the 17th century with a single purpose: rest. Its name derives from the Old French "faudesteuil," a folding seat for dignitaries, but it gained independence under Louis XV to become the comfort piece we know, equipped with armrests. Unlike the chair, it favors a wider seat and an inclined backrest, inviting conversation rather than a rigid posture. Whether it is a "bergère" with enclosed sides to shelter from drafts or a lighter "bridge" armchair, it embodies the evolution of the art of living.
