This pair of dark wood Scandinavian armchairs charms with its sober lines and contemporary look, ideal for creating a room with a balanced tone. The wood forms an elegant structure, while the original cushions provide comfort suited for reading or long conversations. With their low seat height and generous width, they invite you to settle in for a while around a coffee table, in a relaxation corner, or facing a bookcase. Sourced second-hand, this set pairs naturally with a textured rug and a floor lamp for a warm and refined scene in the living room.

A brief history of the armchair
While the chair is made for work or dining, the armchair was born in the 17th century with a single mission: rest. Its name derives from the Old French "faudesteuil," a folding seat for dignitaries, but it broke free under Louis XV to become the comfortable piece of furniture with armrests we know today. Unlike the chair, it favors a wider seat and a reclined back, inviting conversation rather than rigid posture. Whether it is a "bergère" with upholstered sides to shield against drafts or a lighter "bridge" armchair, it embodies the evolution of the art of living.
