With its Scandinavian lines and dark wood, this vintage armchair displays a clean silhouette, supported by delicate compass legs. The mustard fabric seat and backrest add a warm touch, while its modest proportions make it an easy piece to integrate into a living room, bedroom, or reading nook. Its comfortable seat invites you to settle in to read, chat, or simply take a break, offering a lovely balance between structure and textile softness. The contrast between the dark wood and the mustard works particularly well alongside a light wood coffee table, a textured rug, or a metal lamp. As a second-hand piece, it bears the marks of its history: a few signs of age.

A brief history of the armchair
While the chair is designed for work or dining, the armchair emerged in the 17th century with a single mission: rest. Its name derives from the Old French "faudesteuil," a folding seat for dignitaries, but it evolved under Louis XV to become the comfortable piece of furniture with armrests we know today. Unlike a chair, it favors a wider seat and a reclined back, inviting conversation rather than a rigid posture. Whether it is a "bergère" with enclosed sides to shelter from drafts or a lighter "bridge" armchair, it embodies the evolution of the art of living.
