A brief history of the secretary desk
Born in the 18th century under the guidance of brilliant cabinetmakers like Jean-François Oeben, the secretary desk is the guardian of intimate correspondence. Its drop-leaf front reveals a "stepped" interior, a set of small drawers and niches designed for surgical organization. Some models even hid secrets: drawers invisible to the naked eye, operated by springs concealed under a molding. Also known as a "drop-leaf desk," it remains the ideal piece for hiding your workspace with a simple, elegant gesture.
