A brief history of the serving trolley
The serving trolley, also known as a tea trolley or service cart, originated in the 17th century. At the time, it was used to serve and clear dishes and tableware during meals. Equipped with casters, it could be moved from one place to another without effort, allowing tables to be cleared more quickly by reducing the number of trips between the dining room and the kitchen. Its great utility made the serving trolley an important piece of furniture, also used for serving tea or breakfast. Over the centuries, this small mobile side table has secured a prime spot in our homes.
