A Brief History of the Serving Trolley
The serving trolley, also known as a tea cart, originated in the 17th century. At the time, it was used to serve and clear dishes and tableware during meals. Equipped with wheels, it could be effortlessly moved from one place to another, allowing for quicker table clearing by reducing the number of trips between the dining room and the kitchen. Its great utility made the serving trolley an important piece of furniture, also used for serving tea or breakfast. This small, mobile side table has found a prominent place in our homes over the centuries.
