With its smoked glass tops and steel frame, this secondhand side table makes for a contemporary and understated presence. Its play of materials allows it to slide next to a sofa or into a corner of the living room, while offering open storage space beneath the top. The transparency of the glass lightens the overall look, while the steel gives it a graphic and durable structure. Place a lamp, a book, or a few everyday items on it, whether in an entryway or beside an armchair. Topped with a low vase and a beautiful stack of books, it creates a refined everyday scene.

A brief history of the side table
Born in the 17th century under the name "guéridon," the side table owes its origin to the Moorish slaves (called guéridons) depicted on the carved legs of the first models brought back from Italy. This nomadic piece of furniture revolutionized social life at court by breaking the rigidity of large sideboards to create conversation hubs anywhere in the room. Its light and compact structure was designed to be moved as needed: to hold a candlestick, a cup of tea, or a bedside book.
