This second-hand light wood chest of drawers blends an Art Deco aesthetic with a country touch, in a sober and refined balance. Its four drawers punctuate the facade and offer generous storage for linens, accessories, or everyday essentials. The light wood brings a soft glow, while the lovely Art Deco motifs provide an elegant presence in a bedroom or entryway. Sourced for its character, this piece of furniture pairs just as well with natural materials as it does with more graphic decor. In a bedroom, it holds stacks of linens with a lamp placed on its top, creating a warm and polished scene.

A brief history of the chest of drawers
Its name says it all: it was born to be "convenient," replacing deep chests where everything was piled up haphazardly. Appearing during the reign of Louis XIV, it was such a prestigious display piece that it often took pride of place in reception bedrooms rather than in walk-in closets. It introduced the sliding drawer, a revolution that finally allowed one to access their belongings without emptying everything out. Whether called a "commode sauteuse" (on tall legs) or a "commode tombeau," it is defined by its generous top and its facade punctuated by two or three rows of drawers.
