With its dark rattan structure and cane detailing, this square side table brings an elegant country touch to a living room or bedroom. Its hue gives it a delicate texture and a warm finish, while the dark wood emphasizes its presence with sobriety. Sourced second-hand, this small piece of furniture is just as suitable for holding a lamp as it is a book or a trinket tray, while remaining very versatile for everyday use. Placed near an armchair and topped with a ceramic piece or a bouquet of dried flowers, it creates a refined reading nook. As a second-hand piece, it bears the memory of its past: a few signs of wear.

A brief history of the side table
Born in the 17th century under the name "guéridon," the side table owes its origin to the Moorish slaves (called guéridons) depicted on the carved legs of the first models brought back from Italy. This nomadic piece of furniture revolutionized social life at court by breaking the rigidity of large sideboards to create conversation islands anywhere in the room. Its light and compact structure was designed to be moved as needed: to hold a candlestick, a cup of tea, or a bedside book.
