Petite histoire de la table d'appoint
Née au XVIIe siècle sous le nom de « guéridon », la table d'appoint doit son origine aux esclaves maures (appelés guéridons) représentés sur les pieds sculptés des premiers modèles rapportés d'Italie. Ce meuble nomade a révolutionné la vie sociale à la cour en permettant de briser la rigidité des grands buffets pour créer des îlots de conversation n’importe où dans la pièce. Sa structure légère et compacte a été pensée pour être déplacée au gré des besoins : poser un chandelier, une tasse de thé ou un livre de chevet.
