Francine, the vintage wooden side table No. 1553

This wooden side table adds a soft, refined country touch to a living room or bedroom. Its compact size allows it to easily find its place next to an armchair, a sofa, or at the end of a bed, while offering a practical surface for a lamp, a book, or a cup. The drawer with a key adds discreet storage to keep small everyday essentials close at hand. The light wood gives it a bright look that is easy to pair with linen, raw ceramic, or an antique mirror. Carefully sourced, it will also find a place in an entryway, adorned with a tray for keys and a bouquet of dried flowers.

A brief history of the side table
Born in the 17th century under the name "guéridon," the side table owes its origin to the Moorish slaves (called guéridons) depicted on the carved legs of the first models brought back from Italy. This mobile piece of furniture revolutionized social life at court by breaking the rigidity of large sideboards to create conversation islands anywhere in the room. Its light and compact structure was designed to be moved according to one's needs: holding a candlestick, a cup of tea, or a bedside book.
