This dark wood pedestal table, a vintage find with a country-house spirit, adds a refined touch to neglected corners. Its lower shelf provides storage space for a few books, a vase, or everyday items, while its height allows it to accompany an armchair, serve as a sofa end table, or fit into a narrow entryway. The dark wood material emphasizes a sober presence and blends easily with linen, light-colored ceramics, or a metal lantern. In a living room, it readily accommodates a lamp, a stack of beautiful books, and a decorative bowl. As a second-hand piece, it bears the memory of its past: a few traces of time.

A brief history of the side table
Born in the 17th century under the name "guéridon," the side table owes its origin to Moorish slaves (called guéridons) depicted on the carved legs of the first models brought back from Italy. This mobile piece of furniture revolutionized social life at court by breaking the rigidity of large sideboards to create conversation areas anywhere in the room. Its light and compact structure was designed to be moved according to need: to place a candlestick, a cup of tea, or a bedside book.
