With its understated presence and dark wood, this vintage dark wood side table adds a touch of restrained country charm. Its small drawer provides useful storage to keep keys, mail, or everyday accessories within reach, while leaving the top free for a lamp or a book. Its proportions allow it to tuck neatly next to a sofa, at the end of an armchair, or in a narrow entryway without cluttering the space. It pairs naturally with linen, weathered ceramics, or a rattan armchair. Placed at the bedside, it can hold a glass of water, a pair of glasses, and a bouquet of dried flowers.

A brief history of the side table
Born in the 17th century under the name "guéridon," the side table owes its origin to the Moorish slaves (called guéridons) depicted on the carved legs of the first models brought back from Italy. This mobile piece of furniture revolutionized social life at court by breaking the rigidity of large sideboards to create conversation islands anywhere in the room. Its light and compact structure was designed to be moved as needed: for setting down a candlestick, a cup of tea, or a bedside book.
