Francine, the No. 1549 wooden gramophone side table

With its dark wood and country style, this vintage side table brings a warm and unique touch to a living room or music corner. Originally designed to hold a gramophone, it now provides an ideal stand for a record player, while maintaining a lovely decorative appeal. Its compact size and height also make it a handy piece of furniture to place near an armchair, a sofa, or in a bedroom. The wood, understated and deep in tone, pairs naturally with linen, an antique rug, or a few flea-market finds. We can easily imagine it styled with a record player, vinyl records, and a table lamp.

A brief history of the side table
Born in the 17th century under the name "guéridon," the side table owes its origin to the Moorish slaves (called "guéridons") depicted on the carved legs of the first models brought back from Italy. This versatile piece of furniture revolutionized social life at court by breaking the rigidity of large sideboards to create conversation islands anywhere in the room. Its light and compact structure was designed to be moved as needed: to hold a candlestick, a cup of tea, or a bedside book.
