A Brief History of the Industrial Cabinet
A tool of trade before becoming a decorative object, the industrial cabinet originated in the 19th century to meet the precision needs of apothecaries, printers, and seed merchants. Its structure, dictated by its use, is recognizable by its multitude of drawers and brass label holders that allowed for quick identification of stock. Whether called a "plan cabinet" or a "workshop chest of drawers," today it brings a raw industrial charm and unparalleled storage capacity. This piece of furniture tells the story of an era when furniture was an extension of the craftsman's hand, making every sign of wear a testament to its past history.
