With its top carefully repainted in black, this light wood tradesman's cabinet boasts an authentic country-style look, sitting somewhere between an antique desk and a work table. The brass plaque with a serial number adds a unique detail, while the two drawers offer practical storage for papers, notebooks, or everyday accessories. Its well-balanced size makes it easy to place in an office, entryway, or bedroom, where it can also serve as a work console. The contrast between the light wood and black paint highlights a clean, simple line that is easy to pair with a wooden chair, a metal lamp, or a few vintage finds. Like any second-hand piece of furniture, it bears traces of its history: one leg is slightly curved.

A brief history of the tradesman's cabinet
A work tool before becoming a decorative object, the tradesman's cabinet originated in the 19th century to meet the precision needs of apothecaries, printers, or grain merchants. Its structure, dictated by its utility, is recognizable by its multitude of drawers and brass label holders, which allowed stocks to be identified without wasting a second. Whether called a "blueprint cabinet" or a "workshop chest," it now brings a raw industrial charm and unparalleled storage capacity. This piece of furniture tells of an era when furniture was an extension of the artisan's hand, making every sign of wear a testament to its past history.
