This vintage light wood and iron theater seat brings a country feel to the entryway, with the authenticity of an antique piece designed for daily use. Its comfortable seat height is perfect for putting on shoes, while its modest depth makes it an easy piece of supplemental seating to slip into a hallway or entryway. The structure blends wood and iron in a sober style, enhanced by the light wood tone that softens the overall look. The seats fold up on their own when not in use, highlighting their original mechanism. Placed near a mirror with a shoe basket, it creates a polished welcome. As a second-hand piece, it bears the marks of its history: a few woodworm holes.

A brief history of the armchair
While the chair is made for work or dining, the armchair was born in the 17th century for a single purpose: rest. Its name derives from the Old French "faudesteuil," a folding seat for dignitaries, but it evolved under Louis XV to become the comfortable piece of furniture with armrests we know today. Unlike a standard chair, it features a wider seat and a reclined back, inviting conversation rather than rigid posture. Whether it’s a "bergère" with enclosed sides to shield from drafts or a lighter "bridge" armchair, it embodies the evolution of the art of living.
