The vintage pine writing desk captivates with its light wood and soft patina, giving it a chic country look. A brief history of the desk
It all began with the "bure," a thick brown wool cloth that covered the tables of copying monks to protect their precious manuscripts. By extension, the table itself eventually took the name of the fabric that covered it: the desk. Unlike a secretary desk, it is defined by its wide fixed top and exposed legs, offering an unadorned space for reflection. Also known as a "flat desk," it remains the centerpiece for anchoring a workspace with character.
