This pair of smoked glass and red metal coffee tables brings a contemporary, vintage-find feel to the living room. Their glass top allows the red structure to show through with beautiful clarity, while the interplay of materials creates a subtle and refined contrast. Designed to complement a sofa, they easily accommodate a book, a catch-all tray, or a cup, without crowding the space. Their two-piece format allows them to be grouped together for a cohesive set or spread out as needed, whether in a reading corner or in front of a seating area. On the smoked glass, a low lamp and a few magazines are all it takes to create an elegant scene.

A brief history of the coffee table
Unlike dining tables, the coffee table only truly appeared at the beginning of the 20th century as living rooms evolved toward more comfort and relaxation. Its structure, deliberately low to align with the seat of armchairs, was inspired by Oriental tea tables and 19th-century coffee stands. Known as a "living room table" or "cocktail table," it is defined by its generous tabletop supported by a short, sturdy base.
