A brief history of the lounge chair
Appearing in the 18th century under the name "duchesse," the lounge chair is the perfect hybrid between an armchair and a bed, designed for napping or reading without having to undress. Its elongated structure, often composed of an inclined backrest and an integrated long footrest, invited a new relaxed posture in aristocratic boudoirs.
