A brief history of the lounge chair
Appearing in the 18th century under the name "duchesse," the lounge chair is the perfect hybrid between an armchair and a bed, designed for napping or reading without having to undress. Its elongated structure, often composed of a reclined backrest and a long integrated footrest, invited a posture of relaxation previously unseen in the boudoirs of the aristocracy. Whether "broken" into two parts or made in one single piece, it has transitioned from luxurious salons to winter gardens, becoming the symbol of a refined and suspended art of living.
