A brief history of the chaise longue
Appearing in the 18th century under the name "duchesse," the chaise longue is the perfect hybrid between an armchair and a bed, designed for napping or reading without having to undress. Its elongated structure, often comprising an inclined backrest and an integrated long footrest, encouraged an unprecedented posture of relaxation in aristocratic boudoirs.
