A brief history of the workbox
Born in the 18th century as the "work table," the workbox was the creation of mechanical cabinetmakers who competed in ingenuity to create furniture with secret compartments. Unlike a simple box, it is defined by its light base and folding compartments designed to house threads and needles. Also known as a "sewing box on legs," it is now wonderfully repurposed as a bedside table or a charming jewelry box.
