A little history of the sewing box
Born in the 18th century as the "work table," the sewing box was the creation of cabinetmakers who vied in ingenuity to design furniture with secret compartments. Unlike a simple box, it is defined by its light legs and folding drawers intended to house threads and needles. Also called a "sewing box on legs," it is now wonderfully repurposed as a bedside table or a charming jewelry box.
