A brief history of the work table
Born in the 18th century as a "work table," the work table was the creation of mechanical cabinetmakers who vied with each other to create furniture with secret compartments. Unlike a simple box, it is defined by its light legs and unfolding compartments designed to house threads and needles. Also called a "sewing box on legs," it is now wonderfully repurposed as a charming bedside table or jewelry box.
