A brief history of the game table
A centerpiece of 18th-century drawing rooms, the game table is a symbol of the art of living and conviviality under Louis XV. Featuring a rotating or removable top, it often concealed a felt-lined interior, typically green, for cards or chess. Whether called a "bouillotte table" or a "system table," its style, be it Classical or Directory, was defined by its base. Today, it is often repurposed as an entryway console or a unique accent desk.
