A brief history of nesting tables
Invented at the end of the 18th century by the English cabinetmaker Thomas Sheraton, nesting tables are a set of tables of decreasing sizes that fit one under the other. Popular during the Art Deco period for their geometry, then reinvented in the 50s and 60s with organic lines, they embody modular furniture par excellence. They are so named by analogy with Russian dolls, offering an ingenious space-saving solution for small areas. Versatile, they serve as coffee tables, bedside tables, or occasional tables depending on your needs at the moment.
