With its understated presence and light wood, this vintage nesting table fits naturally into a contemporary interior while bringing the sought-after softness of a Scandinavian aesthetic. Its top accommodates a lamp, an open book, or a cup, while its proportions allow it to slip easily next to a sofa or armchair. The clean lines of the wood highlight a minimalist look, easy to pair with natural materials such as linen, ceramic, or rattan. A brief history of nesting tables
Invented at the end of the 18th century by the English cabinetmaker Thomas Sheraton, nesting tables are a set of tables of decreasing sizes that fit one under the other. Prized during the Art Deco period for their geometry and then reinvented in the 50s and 60s with organic lines, they embody modular furniture par excellence. They are named by analogy to Russian dolls, offering an ingenious space-saving solution for small areas. Versatile, they serve in turn as coffee tables, bedside tables, or side stands depending on your immediate needs.
