A brief history of the bench
Did you know that the word “banquet” comes directly from the word “bench”? As far back as the Middle Ages, this convivial piece of furniture brought guests together around the grand tables of the nobility. Whether country-chic or industrial in style, it is distinguished by its shared seating and sturdy construction. Sometimes called a “farmhouse bench” or “bench seat,” it fits into a rustic or vintage aesthetic depending on its finish. Today, it finds a place in an entryway or around a modern table, offering generous seating and a little extra character.
