A Brief History of the Serving Cart
The serving cart, also known as a tea cart, originated in the 17th century. At the time, it was used to serve and clear dishes and crockery during meals. Equipped with castors, it could be moved effortlessly from one place to another, allowing the table to be cleared more quickly by reducing the number of trips between the dining room and the kitchen. It was its great usefulness that made the serving cart an important piece of furniture, also used for serving tea or breakfast. Over the centuries, this small mobile side table has found a place of choice in our homes.
